Default timing on 2008 king

New to forum and needing advice. Got a 2008 road king that has started lugging real bad from take off. Seems like a timing problem but since I'm an old guy and don't know too much about the newer bikes that's a WAG. What would I need to do a tuneup on the newer bikes since I really like to do my own wrenching?

Thanks!!

I believe the timing is controlled by the computer. To the best of my knowledge you cannot alter it. The dealer might be able to electronically alter it but I tend to doubt that. In the old sense of doing a "tune up", other than changing plugs, fluids and filters, you cannot really do anything with a stock ECM. I believe you would have to go to an aftermarket ECM to alter computer parameters. If you are having a "lugging problem" you most likely need to run the codes and may have to take it to the your local dealer. Not that any of that helps you.
