Power Commander IIIUSB Problems, HELP!!
i just bought a pcIII and im having some trouble.
I used the 9 volt battery and got my map uploaded, but when i connect to PC to the bike, theres no power to it.
Has this happened to anyone else?
If i plug the 9 volt into the PC and connect the PC to the bike, itll start right up and run.
But as soon as take out the 9 volt, the bike shots off, and the PC does too.
Ive called Dynojet. Ive unhooked and hooked the PC up many times, and ive checked all of my fuses.
PLEASE HELP

haha. yes it is.
if i connect the Power Commander, and then try to start the bike, all it does is try to kick over but never fires up.
The Power Commander never shows a green light on the left, showing that its on.
But if i throw the 9 volt on there, it comes on and the bike will start.
If i remove the Power Commander and plug the original harness back into the ECM, the bike fires right up.
Basically, the bikes not putting power to the PC.

Have you double checked to make sure that the map you loaded actually loaded to the pc? I would hook it back up to the computer and click "get map" just to double check that it loaded.
I know that with some usb devices that if they are not properly disconected that you can lose data.
My thinking is that if you dont have a map loaded then the pc wont power up. So when you put the battery on it, it comes on and allows the stock ecm to just run straight through the pc and then let the bike start.
I dont know if it can actually work like that but just an Idea.
What did dynojet say?

For the PCIII's, in 07 and earler bikes, the PCIII will not seem to have power and it's lights will turn off when the fuel pump priming stops. It will if the 9v is connected though. For the 08 and later bikes (touring) the PCIII stays powered. Harley used a different wiring harness for the touring in 08. Yes, I realize yours is a springer.
To crank the bike we would hit the start switch within 3 seconds of flipping the run switch on and the bike would start. It's a common problem... try that and see if your bike will crank. Don't wait on the engine light to go off before cranking.
This may not be your problem but if that works, it works. If not I would lean toward a bad PCIII. I've had to send a few back so that isn't uncommon either.

well... no luck. cut off all of the heat shrink wrap and checked all connections. theyre all good. then popped the back off the box itself and its getting power to the box but im thinking the connection to the motherboard is busted. and i cant get to it because Dynojet weathersealed the board by filling it with silicon.....
Im going to connect it to my buddies softail and see what happens...
If no light, then its a no-go and i have to get back on ebay to send it back.
Any last bits of advice from anyone?
