Default Charging System Voltage - Typical

The voltage regulator on my 1993 FLHS recently gave up.

Installed new aftermarket regulator. My system voltage is running 14.8V. Never checked system voltage before this problem.

I'm used to automotive systems never running higher than 14.2 / 14.3.

Is this typical? Concerned the new regulator may be biased a little high and will damage my battery.

Thanks.
