I need someone with either a very good working knowledge or have their outer fairing off their 04, later Road Glide.. I am converting my FLHTC over to a Road Glide,,, So far all has gone well.. now I have a block here that I have been working on... I have the service manual an have been studing the wiring diagram. On the black (right side hand control plug coming from the innerconnect harness is a single green/black wire.. the wiring diagram in the service manual show green/black as a ground to upper triple clamp area... this ground is connected to the radio system. However, my wire is "hot' with the ign turned on and plud into the radio..

my question... on your innerconncet harnes... this green/black wire coming off the black righhand control plug - where does it go???

 

may have found an answer???? went back to the bike.... turn on ing - radio unplugged - plugged radio in - radio did not "come on" - touched the green/black wire to the ground - radio lit up (speakers not installed yet) I am NO electrican but this looks to be one of those weird wirings??? eventhoug the groud seemed "Hot" looks to be correct... so any electricans out there that know the answer here??

BTW - same wire same location on a FLTHCI also...

 

hooked up speakers and all is working fine... still that green/black - hot issue has me confused - like I said,,, I have run into simular wirings in the past... still looking for the HD person that has THE answer

 

They ground it to the triple clamp bolt. This is how they ground the handlebars because they are rubber isolated. The wire is not hot but it will complete a path to ground if you hooked a test light to it and tto a 12V source.

 

I Did hook a test light and it lit the 12 volt light,,,that is what had me confused...
