Default Battery conections getting loose

I have had bikes for over 40 years and have never had this happen. My battery conections keep coming loose,I will be on a ride ,pull into a watering hole for one, come back out and my bike will be dead.I just pull off the seat and tighten up the conections and away we go.It happenes about every 700 miles and I try to get a jump on it by checking it before I go on rides but it still happens. It has been happening every since I put a new battery in 2 years ago.Has any one used Loctite on a battery connection(lead)?Any ideas to fix it?

Thats exactly what I'd do....since the actuall connections lie on top of the posts I dont see what a lil dab of lock tight would hurt in the thread to the nut.

Simultainiously I'd go get a new bolt and nut too just in case that didnt work.....
If the new nut n bolt came loose your looking at a high freq vibration most likely...

I'd then throw a new rubber pad under the battery to see if that helps.
Also put a wrench to all your nuts and bolts......something could be loose someplace else and causing that vibration.

I agree....thats a lil crazy thing you got going on......

A little Loctite and a couple of taps on the connection on the battery after the bolt is in to smash the threads down a bit usually works.

Have you considered using lock washers?

Happens on both my bikes too although it takes more than 700 miles. I'm trying loctite to see if it fixes it.

I bet that would create too much pressure on the soft lead

Yeah I think they are using cheaper, less dense lead or something, I had steel inserts pull out of the lead on one, and frequently have to tighten the leads on the new one. I've used blue loctite, have not tried red. Someone I talked to mentioned dielectric (conductive) paint.
