Default speedometer problems

Greetings: my 05 flstc's speedometer just quit-well it jumps around some. At the same time the smooth idle is gone and some backfiring on downshifts, turn signals have stopped self cancelling as well. No idiot lights are on. Advice???

Hello,
I asume your bike is an EFI because I don't know much about Flstc...

If it just sometimes works and sometimes doesnt check speed sensor and cables, I think your ECM is not receiving speed measures.

Take out and clean the shavings off of the speed sensor and reinstall with new o-ring. Sometimes cleaning it is not enough and a replacement has to be, but try cleaning it first.

+1 on cleaning the speedo sensor.

It is situated r/h side on the transmission housing (p/n 54, 432 and 441 in parts diagram below)

Had a hitch in the odometer some tima ago, took off the sensor and cleanded it with a rag.... problem solved!
