Default 2005 Dyna Low Speedometer 67403-04

I think I fried my speedometer. While tightening the negative cable the positive hit the shock and sparked. Now my accessory fuse keeps blowing when I turn the key on. I figured out that the accessory wire going to the speedometer grounds out when the speedo is hooked up to the electrical connector. (I got electrical experience in the military) The tach is fine. Question is what to do now? can i just buy a speedo off of ebay and replace my original ? Would this need calibration to the TSSM or ECM? Should I go to HD and have a electrical system check and get a new speedo? ($$$) Sould I take my original apart and try to fix? This Dyna is new for me, The EFI and electronics are complicated. My last bike was a 1991 Sportster and I did most of the work myself.

Check your wiring harness first.... there is a possibility that you burnt up a wire at the connector to the speedo lead....

And if you get a speedo off of Fleabay, you run the risk of it not working.....

You really should check out the entire Accy circuit, to ensure that is your only issue....

Default sportster speedo

For the 2004 xl that uses part number 67403-04, I believe the new part number is 67436-04. Dealer retail is about $270 and dealer can have the current mileage set for you.
