Top end power loss
So here’s the deal while in S Dakota this past summer I was riding to N Dakota from Spearfish on a long straight road running about 85 when I came up on a tractor trailer keeping in mind I could see for 5 or 6 miles so for fun I laid into it and ran it up to about 110 or so and flew by the truck at 115 or so it felt like the rev limiters kicked in and I let off and slowed to about 90 or and all felt fine. After a few miles I toped a hill and could again see for miles again and leaned on the 99 Roadking again and could barley get it to 100 and it felt like I had 5or 6 less horse power on top end and has felt like that every since. I had my local dealer check the cam chains and tensioners and they said I could go another 20K on them, I had 45K at the time. I had bigger jets put in the carb. And added a high flow Pingle petcock, K&N high flowair filter, and new plugs with no change. When my wife is on the back some of the hills around us in the Nashville area that we used to just sail up I now find myself losing speed before we get to the top. It sometimes feals like the more gas I give the slower it gets and i have to back off and slowly ease into the throttle to try to stay at speed uphill. The bike is stock other than what I stated and a set of V&H slip on. Any ideas ?
