Default Starter Problem

I'm still a novice so please forgive me. I accidently hit the starter button on my 2009 Ultra Classic while the engine was running. I heard a strange noise. Did I damage anything?
Thanks

Probably not. That was the sound of teeth grinding. Don't don't make a habit out of it. We probably all do it once or twice over the course of our lives. Less if you don't ride in mittens....

I wouldnt do it again -it will tear up your starter drive gear on the end of the starter before it will the gear on the motor. We have all at one time or another made that mistake- you should be ok,harley starters arnt cheap put a stick on dot on your starter button to help you remember which button is which until you become comfy with your hand controls.good luck an Happy Harleyn
