Default intermitent electrical fault

2000 deuce, riding along engine fails. restarts and runs for about 5 seconds and stops again.
cleaned the carby bowl, checked the fuel is getting to the bowl all good.
It`s like a circuit breaker is tripping out. the bike starts then stops for say 20 seconds then it will restart. It must be electrical but where abouts, could it be the coil? trailered the bike home, next morning went to check the 1 and only circuit breaker but the engine is running fine now. I need to find the cause as it may happen again when i`m on a big trip or somewhere far away. Any thoughts would be helpfull.
Thakyou

Check all of your electrical connections, especially the battery. Do a load test on battery. Did you recently wash the bike before riding?

thanx for the replys, yes my kids did wash her a few days before, when it was doing it as it died i could turn the main switch off and on again and she would fire up again for 2 seconds, so by switching off and on i could keep it going. could it be the coil? I will check all conections rcb. there is only 1 circuit breaker on the bike. went for a 10 miniute ride this morning and all good, worried as tomorow i want to go 200 miles and its a sunday. i could take a bit of wire and jump straight to the coil feed from the batt to get me home if needbe, or that might blow up something..

Take a hair dryer and dry out the fuse box. Remove each fuse & relay and clean the contacts, dry out each socket and coat the contacts with some permatex dielectric grease (autozone). Dry out the ignition switch as well and under the seat and battery box.

Thanks, I think the kids watered the ignition switch to much because have just done 300 kms and never missed a beat. the moisture must have shorted the main switch causing the circuit breaker to trip. has been perfect ever since.
