04 FLHRCI DTC Troubleshooting help
Hi guys, hoping for a bit of help. I have an 04 FLHRCI with just under 50K miles.
Check engine light came on, bike ran fine for a bit then acted like it was fuel starved. Quit once, took a little while to get it started again an limped home.
Followed the instructions in the original post and received the following code -
P0118 ET Sensor Voltage Open/High EFI.
From what I can gather, this is referencing the engine temp sensor that tells the ECM how much fuel to supply. Makes sense with the symptoms.
Question is, do I just replace the sensor? Is that something an average person can handle? (Cost of the part?) Or, is it worth it to get it to someone and have them look for other issues - maybe the sensor is just doing its job and is a symptom of a larger problem.
Looking forward to your feedback.
thanks,
jason

Could be the sensor... could be a wiring issue...... maybe an ECM issue....
Gonna have to go through the diagnostics to ACCURATELY determine what it is....
You could get lucky, replace the ET sensor and that will cure it... But if you replace it, and the issue remains, all you have done is purchased a useless part, and wasted time...
