found a disconn alarm on '96 FLSTC
Hey all ...
This ride is new to me this spring and, although I knew it had an alarm (that had been disconnected due problems - nature unknown), I've not had reason to pursue the matter 'til now.
I had my battery (a Can. Tire MotoMaster p.o.s. as it turned out) die on me rather suddenly a couple days ago and am making some wiring changes while servicing the battery so in future I can deal more effectively - like a POS batt post take-off lead for easy access jumping with cables and a hidden low-beam cut-out switch to lighten the current draw if and as req'd.
I've removed the instrument cluster to do the low-beam cut-out sw install and have stumbled across the partially disconnected alarm installed between the tanks. Could be a source of current drain - haven't checked yet, will when battery is fully charged again.
Hope someone can spot the identity of this alarm and help me figure out how it's meant to be wired and how it is supposed to work.
My local dealer (Trev Deeley)'s Service Advisor said '96 FLSTC's weren't offered with factory alarms, that mine must be after-market and that he didn't recognize my alarm remote.
Here's pics of the disassembled remote and the alarm unit removed. I've got more pics I can add (in dribs and drabs) to replies as req'd.
