Just wondering what the best way to remove the gas tank on 2009 ultra??
Does the gas need to be removed? Where and how do you disconect the gas line?? This is my first time dealing with a fuel injected tank removal. Thanks Mark

 

Spend the money on a service manual, will be the best money you can spend. The gas line is a quick connect, just lift up on the chrome sleve at the bottom of the tank where the fuel line connects will allow you to pull the line out. You need to pull the fuel pump fuse and run the bike until all the pressure has bled off the fuel line first.

Don't get the offbrands. Get the one from HD. It's the best.

Searching around for threads on revoming the internals from a EG gas tank I found this one. Does anyone know if there is a way around needing/using the "special" tool CAM RING REMOVER/INSTALLER to get the top plate out of the gas tank? Any tips or tricks needed to know to remove those internals (top plate and fuel level sender)? What is the top plate really? To me it just looks like it makes the fuel tank inlet hole smaller and holds the fuel filter. Any personal information is appriciated. I am changing my tank out for a streched tank. It should be done with paint by the end of this week.
