I have been dealing with this problem since day one, and two different dealers have yet to find a solution. In 2003 the local dealer
said there was a new map that was to correct this problem, installed it, but the problem continues. After warm up it will have a normal
idle most of the time, then intermittently when I pull in the clutch to stop or close throttle (coasting), it will not idle down. I have tried
checking for intake leaks by spraying water around the seals, hot or cold, with no change to engine speed. Could this be an IAC, TPS problem?
Modifications are SE air cleaner, V&H long shots, and DFO. I know the mods are not the problem, it has done this since the bike was new with no mods. Any help would be appreciated.

 

I have the same problem on a 97 road king. Mechanic(not a Harley dealer) told me it was the cylinder head temp sensor. It is being repaired right now. You may want to check that as it tells how much fuel to send.
