Default Alright, I got one for you experienced gearheads

I gotta 2000 Heritage. About a week ago experienced following symptoms: engine sounds like its running on one cylinder, speedo needle bounces between zero and current speed, odometer blanks out then comes back on, check engine light goes on and off, problem continues until I turn bike off and let her sit, bike runs fine for a short while after restarting then problem starts again - maybe when something reaches a certain temp(?) Bike doesn't completely die but alternates between firing on one then two cylinders at least that's what it sounds like. Bike is carbureted. Got any ideas?

Could be a bad sensor...probably crank position sensor. If you know how to check the error codes in your ignition module, it will tell you. If you don't know how, bring it to a dealer and they can check the codes for you but If I were you , I'd learn how to check myself, its real easy, just gotta make sure you get the count right!!

I've heard of similar problems when the coil is about to die, it acts up when it gets warm, works fine cold.

Alright youse guys. For those who may be curious about the problem as described above the faulty part was a circuit breaker. This particular circuit breaker is located forward of the plastic inner fender. Although the mechanics said there was a problem also with the coil and voltage regulator (maybe - know what I mean?) Thanks for the input.
