Default Life span of a fuel pump?

I was wondering about the average life span of a fuel pump in a HD. I had to replace the one in my Pontiac at 65,000 miles and the one in my GMC pickup at 115,000 miles so they seem to vary greatly. Does anyone have experience with a fuel pump going out?

Should last the life of the engine if nothing else. Running the fuel too low often will obviously kill it quicker since cooling is lost. Hard to give a definate answer, but it should have a long life.
