Developed a problem today on a 40 mile ride.
05 Softail Deluxe, 19,500 miles
Bike stalls out at idle, have to rev to keep running
Speedometer and odometer stopped working, miles did not register
Now the kicker, turn signals work but they do not self cancel after a turn

Bike starts no problem, starts after stalling, fuel pump and fuses good, battery charged

Any suggestions?

 

speed sensor full of metal particles?
maybe quick removal and wipe clean.
speed sensor would control odometer/speedometer and would affect function of turn signals...do not know about that idle/run issue.

 

The battery is used for cranking - the charging circuit keeps things UP after the engine starts. I'd check the charging circuit.
