Default Using 04 - 06 Speedo in an 2003

I had a 6 speed gear set installed in my 2003 Road King a couple of years back. Also had to install a speedometer calibration module. Ever since the speedometer will periodically lose the signal and bounce from 0 mph back to the speed that I am going. It cause a real problem, especially when the cruise control is on, as the entire bike lunges with the speedo.

I replaced the calibration module three times, and even removed it to see if it was what was causing the problem. None of this worked. I periodically remove the magnetic pickup and clean the metal shavings off of it. This seems to work for a short bit of time, but then it starts all over again.

Eastern Performance (who installed the 6 speed) tells me that it must be my speedometer itself. I totally disagree with them, as it would be an awfully big coincendence if this is true. I just have a hard time believing that the speedo would malfunction at the exact same time the six speed was installed.

At any rate, I was given a brand new speedo by a friend who got it from another friend. The part number is 67410-04A and it is for model years 2004 - 2006. I would like to try this unit on my bike, but the wiring harness has a different clip on it.

Does anybody know if there is a wiring harness conversion kit out there that would allow me to try this speedometer on my 2003?

Any input is appreciated.

04 and up use a serial data bus, doubt it would work, but it would be good to hear from someone who tried. Mike

Went to the dealer to see if anyone there had a clue. The gal that I was dealing with at the parts counter had no idea of what she was talking about. I asked her if I could just buy the entire wiring harness for a 2004. She looked at the diagram and said that they dont make a wiring harness and that she could sell me the clip and I would need to start splicing. Service was closed so I couldn't ask anyone there.

I guess I will just put this thing I ebay. It only has 365 miles on it and is in perfect condition. I saw a similiar one sell for $165 that had over 7,000 miles on it.
