Question 02 FLHTC - Weird odometer display and electrical burning smell

I've noticed recently on my 2002 FLHTC that I occaisonally get an electrical burning smell when on the highway and if I shut the bike off then turn it back on a minute or two after shutdown when it's hot the odometer reads similar to E7E7E7E then displays the mileage. The E's don't have the top bar but otherwise that's how it looks. Once it's cooled down the odometer stays clear until the mileage displays. The voltmeter stays about where it always has on the highway (roughly between 14 and 15 volts) and it always starts and runs like it always has.

The only electrical accessories added are a powered antenna, an Ultra Classic tour-pak with lights and a Zumo 550. The antenna and Zumo have been on for about four months and the tour-pak about a month and a half. I would hope this wouldn't be enough to overstress the charging system but am not sure.

Spoke with the dealer and they haven't seen the odometer reading before. It's under warranty but they can't look at it until next week. Anyone seen this before or have ideas?

Thanks.

mine is doing the same thing, speed sensor possibly? speedometer doesn't work when it does this or the odometer and just faintly can you see the E7E7
E7. I don't have the electrical smell that i can determine. It has done this off and on for last 3 months but i havn't been able to ride it that much or have time to take it anywhere yet.I've taken the speed sensor out and cleaned it, wasn't dirty that i could see and checked the connections to it. Hopefully this will revive this thread.
