Default brake light stays on

I have developed a short in my electrical system and cannot locate it. First my high beam would not work then the bulb blew. I replaced bulb, then left turn signal blew, I replaced bulb now my brake light stays on all the time.

Start the bike up and read the voltage at the bat 13.5 VDC +or - not 15 VDC + I'm just trying to see if the charging system is ok ( like a bad regulator ) That blowing lights is a sign

Try the reading again this time rev the engine and see if the DC volts goes up As for the brake lite staying on did you do anything to the right handle bar controls (front brake lever area ? I think HD still runs a micro switch (front brake lite ) off the front brake lever

Mine also stays on and I have chased it down to the front brake lever not pushing on the switch correctly. I need to replace the lever.
In my search for the problem I also found the light bulb holder for the rear light was shorted in the housing where the bulb goes in, the plastic has been hot and was meltd.

Good luck.

there is a spring in the front lever that I needed to replace on mine. But you could tell that was where the problem was, as the lever was back a tad.

If you guys replaced the grips and did not install cardboard shim in the brake lever, you most likely broke off the little tit that disengages the brake light switch when handle is released.
