06 gets hot in town
My buddy that I ride with alot is having problems with his 06 Ultra, when we get in town [ stop and go traffic ] his bike wants to shut down on him, it has been this way a long time since about 06. He has V&H ovals, V&H fuel pak, and high flow air cleaner. The dealer set the fuel pak and he has checked it by the settings on V&H website everything seems OK. Would it make a difference if the dealer had mapped the bike to stage 1 or left it stock, he said they were to map to stage 1 before the fuel pak, It doesnt' seem to make a difference if he uses the numbers from stage 1 or from the stock settings, have tried both but it still gets hot and wants to die, I have an 08 and have no problems with it at all in town. Anyone have any ideas what we should try?
thanks for help

If it is too hot, you got to cool it down. Some fuel and spark adjustments can help.
What it really needs, and a lot of Harleys don't have them, is a big oil cooler. Thermostat controlled. And Synthetic oil.
One cooler, Bob Woods says two, is needed for a air cooled engine. Specially in the Summer.
Hell my Dixie Chopper has a oil cooler. Course it workes real hard. Mostly in the summer.
Read Donnie Peterson vol 2.
But it is really comon sense.
