Popping fuses -- need advice
Just changed out the brackets on my hardbags from the ones that came with them to Easy Brackets. They seem to be far superior. However, after re-wiring the brake lights in my bags (not rocket science), I find myself with no brake lights whatsoever. So I check the fuses and sure enough, the 15A asccessory fuse is fried. I put in a new one and it pops instantly.
Looking over old electrical threads it seems the #1 guess is a pinched wire. First of all, what is a pinched wire (sorry, I never claimed to be a master mechanic) and is there anything specific I can do? Or should I just bite the bullet, unravel my wiring and do it again?

A pinched wire would be a wire that the insulation has been crushed and cut open to expose the copper inside. If the wire is the 12 volt positive source, you will blow a fuse. That is also referred to as a short circuit. when the 12 volt + power connects with a ground source before it makes it to whatever device it wired to. I would carefully look at any and all splices or connections you have made. even 1 whisker of copper can blow a fuse or trip a circuit breaker. hope this helps.,,
