power commander voids warranty

RE: power commander voids warranty
by the way, say what you want, i call[sm=bs.gif] on the whole "warranty will be void" issue. the freakin stealer wants you to buy the part he is going to make the most money on. i am running the pc, and have had no probs, nor do i see how the pc could possibly "eat" the ECM. the ONLY way that stealer or the moco can void the warranty is if the PC DIRECTLY caused the malfunction. and even if that were to happen, the warranty would only be void for that particular problem (ie they have to honor the warranty if your axle breaks, as the PC could not have caused this)
besides, dynojet is not exactly a small company. if their product were to cause damage to your bike, do you not think they would cover it?
buy what you want, but don't just spew everything your crooked dealer tells you as "fact"

RE: power commander voids warranty
this thread got my feathers a little ruffled, because it says a lot about the state of mind some stealers are in. has it come to a point where the average HD dealer can simply not be trusted? i e mailed powercommander tech support last night, this is what was said:
Decide for yourself.
Hello,
I have a 2004 Harley Davidson Road King Classic. I am running a stage 1 air
cleaner, Reinhart true duals and a PowercommanderIII USB. I am hearing
several people claim that the use of the power commander voids my warranty,
and that I can expect the powercommander to cause my ECU to fail. I don't
buy it, but I would like to hear your take on this situation. I have used
powercommanders on sportbikes, and never had a problem. Thank you for your
help in this matter,
Sascha Krumnow

Sascha,
This is absolutely not true. This is usually a scare tactic used to get you
to buy something else. The Power Commander cannot void your warranty, unless
it damages the bike and the manufacturer can prove it. There are laws
against this. The Power Commander is incapable of damaging the bike as it
sends no current to the bike/ECM. All it does is intercept the injector
pulse width signal (a ground) and fire the injectors (by grounding them). It
is basically a really fast, accurate ground. It does not generate current.
If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them, or feel free to
call our tech line at 800-992-4993.

RE: power commander voids warranty
Well done and well said Iceman. The PC III is a good piece of equipment period. Harley scare tactics does work on some people, it's a shame that Harley dealers can influence people with such scare tactics, and put so much more money in their pockets.

RE: power commander voids warranty
This has nothing to do with the RE, but after talking with numerous dealers while looking to buy my 05 Super Glide I have come away think that you do have to watch who the dealer is you deal with. If you want to know my specifics, ask - I don't want to take up the space here. I ended up saving $2,000.00 to $3,000.00 on my purchase shopping around (everything from interest rates to "mandatory accessories"). I feel really good about the dealer I went with, but I now know first hand that not all dealers are the same.
Good luck with your issue. For a newbie, could you explain what the Power Commander does?
Thanks.

RE: power commander voids warranty
Brad, This might not be the best thread for it (perhaps "off-topic" or "Dyna Glide" would be better, but I think it would be interesting and informative for you to post your experiences. My dealer only had bikes w/ laced wheels, EFI and security system...that's all they ordered, but these were all things I wanted, so it was no big deal to me.
