Default Installation of internally wired bars?

Hi! I'd like to install some internally wired "fat" bars on my new Springer Classic. Can anyone advise some hints/tips/suggestions on the wiring aspect?

Specifically,
1) Where is the best place to splice the wires?
2) Does one remove the wire harness cover at the hole in the handlebars to make it easier to snkae the wiring through the bars or does one just snake the whole harness and cover assembly through?

Thanks for the input!

Carl

Unless the new bars are taller than the old ones, you won't have to splice the wires. They are plugged in under the tank. Take a couple pictures, and write down the wire positions, then release the wires from the plugs. I would leave them inside the coverings for extra protection. Don't forget to disconnect the battery before you start. You might also find some more tips in the DIY section.

Does the tank need to be fully rmoved or are the connectors accessible by mere moving the tank an inch or two back?

First.....the tank has to be raised enough to get to the plug and most important! make sure you plug the connector back in very good or you will be removing your tank again.....maybe on the side of the road. I did the same thing and the connector backed out on me at the worst possible time. Make sure its tight and leave enough slack so it dosent pull out. It does look awesome with no wires showing!
