I appreciate the info, that's part of what is causing my confusion, I do not have a security system on this bike (that I am aware of) I know there isn't a Siren. But that doesn't mean the system isn't there. I wasn't given a key FOB when I bought it so; I am assuming I don't have one. If it's there it has been disabled or disarmed since I bought it and has never been armed. I've been riding it regularly since '06. If I can't find a bare wire on my own I'm going to have no choice but to take it to a dealer or just replace the module and hope for the best...

Sorry, I don't know the differances across years and bikes. Without a service manual, i.e. wiring diagram, I can only guess. Well, ok, with one I'm still guessing but it's a more educated guess
