Default Just switched to a power commander.

Well I just finally got the money together to get both a power commander, and the big sucker (i'm a college student so I had to save my pennies...) anyway prior to that I was just running vance and hines shortshots slipons and of course the engine was lean. Now that I have the power commander on and new air cleaner its a BIG difference. No popping, backfiring or anything. My question is I could tell prior to the install that it was running lean and now that it should be a lot closer to what it should be is it a good idea to install new plugs? Mind you its only got about 8K on the original... Its cheap to replace them, but was wondering if it was necessary at all?

Check the plugs. Running lean can cause a glassy deposit on the plugs. That deposit melts and conducts when it gets hot. You would likely see your fuel economy drop as you start having less and less complete burns. A powdery deposit, as long as it's not black and sooty, is normal.
