i went to start my bike, a 1995 883 sportster with a 1200 eng, and i turned the key on, lights came on and all. went to use the switch to start it and it clicked and everything went out. Thought it might be a bad contact on the battery so i pulled it apart, contacts look good and clean. Hooked up a charger for a while and even with it still attached there was still no power at all. What could be wrong?

 

check the ground at the starter
check the ground at the battery
check the ground at the front cylinder where it connects to the frame.
