Shutting Down Procedure

When turning off your bike, is there a problem with just (one step) turning the console, key switch to off, or should you always (two step) first switch the right grip switch to off and then the console switch to off.
The reason I would prefer to use the one step console switch is that a couple of times at night, with gloves, I inadvertantly hit the start switch when going for the grip off switch. I hate it when that happens!

Just anecdotal but...I haven't, in more then 40 years of riding, used the grip switch (aka kill switch) to shut down the bike more then a dozen times (I think everyone of those were at the MSF course) and never had an issue.
Now I have seen many riders forget to flip the key switch after using the kill switch resulting in a dead battery...and that actually happened at the MSF course.
