eddfive, so anyone wanting to perform their own tuning would be out of luck since I'm sure the AIDL box is very expensive?

thankx for clarification...

Actually the whole system is slightly cheaper than buying a replacement ECU like TMAX or DTT. The Direct Link has had auto tuning of wideband sensors since 2007.(see website) This year they have introduced autotuning with the narrowband sensors. It has many nice features and most independent Dyno tuners have their system and some Harley dealerships do as well. If you go to the Technoresearch web site it list distributors and tuning centers. If you want to have your bike tuned and keep the total price of key and dyno tune down this is the way to go. If you like to tinker and program your own bike you can with Direct Link, it will cost you a little more.

The TTS software allows the user to change, this is what DL followed to revise there product. If you look at the cost for the same feature set included with Mastertune and to get DL to do what it can (as it cannot do what Mastertune can) you will be spending more on DL. If your looking to buy just a key and take it to someone else each time then DL is cheaper.

Ah, so you're talking about the calibration ID being used to see if the ECM has been changed. A while back I read that the tuners write a fingerprint (not the calibration ID) when writing a map. Thus even if the calibration ID was kept the same dealers could still see that the ECM had been changed. Do you know if this is true?

When you call up system information in Direct Link it shows all of the same information the the Digital Tech can see. All of this information is preserved in the flash and you can program in the original cal id to match system information or you can give it a custom id designation. If you match the cal id then the Digital tech will see stock configuration, if you give it a custom id then digital tech will see this and the dealer will know the ECU has been flashed. The fingerprint is not detectable unless you change something in the system id. It is really the person who is flashing the ECU that needs to determine what they want to do.
