Default Starter Opinions

Scenario..
on my bourget with a 117 s&s, elec. compression realease's, the starter will turn over very slowly (like a dead battery) and pulls a lot of the charge out of the battery. This just started, starter even smokes a bit when turning over. bike is always on a batterytender, battery is almost new.

Should I repalce the starter with a All *****, Spyke or similar or just take the current starter to a shop for rebuild?
Id rather not do this 2 times, but I also dont want to waste money on it.

opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one so here's mine.
what you're describing sounds like a grounding problem. make sure your battery ground is secure, make sure your starter ground is secure....

Ultra,
was my thought also.. its a pita to get to the wiring just to check on this bike, remove n20 tanks, remove tank, drop shocks, then take the seat off..

yeah i know... got a buddy with one of those Borgets... man I would not want to have to work on anything on that thing! LOL

Its defiantely the starter, its pretty much DOA. Fortunately Spyke rebuilds them for under $100.00
