Hello,
I have a 2005 FatBoy and have a lighted license plate frame that needs access to the "Run" (+12v) wire and ground wire. The instructions say to tap into these wires "Upstream" of the 8 pin connector that connects the rear fender harness to the main wiring harness.

I do have the service manual for my bike (2005 Softail Models) so if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

 

You need the Electrical Diagnostics Manual for wiring diagrams, pin-outs and diagnostic services and tips....

You have a choice of 2 wires to select from for your "Switched Accessory Power" (Power on when ignition is on)... The BLUE wire or the ORANGE with WHITE Stripe....

 

You should have a wiring and harness schematics in the back of the service manual. Also a table that references the connectors on the bike. Just locate the 8 pin connector, and pinouts are identified. You should be able to trace out the orange/white wire back to the ignition via accessories fuse. hope this helps also..
