Can it be left on the bike for extended periods without any harm coming to it?
Also can it be used for data collection on a bike without being married to that ECM?
Cheers.
Yes to both questions.

Yup... remember, the dongle doesn't have infinite data storage. Once the dongle is full of data it will delete the oldest file to make room for more data. Personally, I too keep it on my bike and will VTune about every 3 hours of riding time. I rarely get any VE changes but after three years, I am still getting timing and ERG changes. Doing this, I make sure my motor is maintained properly and sensors changed at regular MoCo intervals or earlier. My data did find one 02 sensor going bad at 20k. So leaving dongle on does have its advantages.

never thought of “maintenance” v-tuning. That’s a damn good idea. Thanks Mr Wizard!

Nope you can use the white BT ones. Blue is "legacy" and will only receive updates if a bug is found.

Default Power to dongle

Me again 😁
I haven't been paying close attention the last couple of years, so in case I've missed it is there another way to power the blue dongle without plugging into the bike? It's no stress if not, just asking 😁
