Is my amp draining my battery?
I have one of the Harley Enhanced Stereo Sound amps on my 2001 FLHTC and it seems that it is always draining a little juice from my battery. I first noticed that sometimes the speakers would crack ( noise ) when I turned it off or on even without the radio on. Now if I don't ride it for a couple days it acts like the battery is low, and is slow to start, but once it starts and is run for a little while I am good for the day. The last time I just thought I would switch out the battery, I have a good stock battery in the garage so I pulled out the 1000A BIG BOAR battery and when hooking up the other I noticed a little spark, and heard the speakers crack again. well i put a tester across where the fuse was for the power lead to the amp and it was showing 1.3 V. This is with everything off. I checked the directions for the wiring and it is hooked up per instuctions. got a good headache reading those wiring diagrams in the manual, Ha-Ha. anyone else have any kind of problem like this?? can something in the amp go bad and be slightly drawing down the battery? for now I am just leaving out the fuse but that means NO Radio.
I dont think the radio turns on the amp because the trigger wire connects to the cigarette lighter and it only gets power when in ON or ACC. position.
