Charging confusion questions
I have a 96 ultra and the stator went bad so I changed it with the factory 32amp. Rotor looks great. The regulator was replaced to. The question I have is before I replaced the stator it was charging 13.4 to 14.5. Once I replaced it with the factory 32amp running down the road with the headlight on it charging 12.0 to 12.5 at 3000 rpm at an idle it drops to 10.0amps when I put the brakes on it drops to 9.0amps. With the passing lights on to running at 3000 rpm its getting 11.0amps and when I hit the brakes it drops to 8.0amps. I have checked readings off the bat because you cant trust the guage all the time. I am fed up and thinking of up grading to a 40 or 45 amp system or even a 38amp. Here is the question that I am confused on since my stator is new I was told that to upgread to a 38 or 40 amp all I need to do is get a rotor not a stator. I talked to the dealer with no help can any body give me a correct answer. THANKS ALL
