I cant find my volt tester.Can I use a test light?If not i'll have to buy a tester.

 

The problem with using a light is it will light up with very little current, your starter won't work on very little current.
Jump the two large studs on the selinoid....the starter should turn over. Jump the small terminal stud with a large terminal stud and the solenoid should kick the Bendix in and turn the starter....if not replace the solenoid.
