IGNITION SWITCH 2006 ULTRA PROBLEM
I have a 2006 Ultra, my first bagger. From the first day I got it I have had problems getting the switch to go all the way to the fork lock position. I know that you have to pull the bars all the way over & push the switch down to get it to that position but the switch is still hard to turn, like there is some kind of resistance inside. I asked the service manager where I was getting the 95" build done to show me the trick to locking the ignition. He took one look & said it was the "new" style switch & there are problems with some of them. He explained that inside the housing there are plastic bushings. I tried a few switches on the 2006 bikes on the showroom floor, some were smoth others were not.
Has anyone had this problem?

RE: IGNITION SWITCH 2006 ULTRA PROBLEM
Are you talking about locking the forks or locking the forks and the bars?
Locking the forks I just turn the bars all the way to the left and switch the ignition switch over to the left.
To lock the bars I do the same and them insert the key and push down and turn the key to the right.
Does that help at all?

RE: IGNITION SWITCH 2006 ULTRA PROBLEM
I understand how to lock the forks. What I'm asking has anyone had problems operating the switch on the 2006 baggers? Mine is very hard to turn, like it has some resistance inside the housing, it does not turn smoothly, when moving it to the lock position..

RE: IGNITION SWITCH 2006 ULTRA PROBLEM
If I turn my hbars to the left I can turn my switch to the left and push it in without any resistance. You must have one of the bad locks. I would get it fixed. I have read on this forum that it may lock one time and you will not be able to unlock it. Some have to be towed.
Mine works fine. Hope that helps.

RE: IGNITION SWITCH 2006 ULTRA PROBLEM
Having the same problem with mine. Could not position the switch to accesory. Thought it might be due to cold weather. Then I look back two weeks to when I took delivery, the sevice manager was having trouble locking the forks.
It's going in for repair after the the weather straightens out.

Update: 3-11-06
Dealer had the the same problem moving the switch through the positions. At least the symptoms were there when I dropped the bike off.
Parts have been ordered and will be replaced next week.
Almost stranded because I could not unlock the forks, eventhough the switch was on Ignition.
