Default 2006 starter problem

2006 FLHTI 5500 MILES, TWICE NOW WHEN TRYING TO START IT JUST CLUNKS BUT WILL NOT TURN, BATTERY VOLTAGE IN SPEC, TRIED ROCKING BACK AND FOURTH IN GEAR, NOTHING, PULLED PLUGS TO MAKE SURE NOT BOUND UP ALL WAS FINE! FINALLY HIT IT WITH A BOOSTER PAC AND IT STARTED TO SPIN, REMOVED BOOSTER AND WORKED FINE FOR ROUGHLY A MONTH, THAN AGIN THIS PAST SAT. AM DID IT AGAIN BASICLY SAME DEAL, CLUNKS REPEATEDLY AND AFTER MANY TRIES IT STARTS SPINING AND HAS BEEN FINE SINCE???? ANYONE ELESE FIND THE RIGHT CURE FOR THIS? THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE! WD

did you do a load test??? just because the voltage is with in spec does not mean the CCA rating is within spec!

battery was swaped with a new one from another bike, sorry for not stating that, but the other battery was load tested and passed fine, also no problem starting other bike! It appears to be a jackshaft or over running clutch issue I think!

make sure you ohm your battery cables then if everything is ok more than likely a selenoid issue if there is nothing wrong with the jackshaft assembly,as if it were a starter clutch it would spin but not turn the engine over.

Check all your electrical connections on the battery &amp\\;\\\\\\; grounding strap &amp\\; starter. Then go for the solenoid.
