Default Starter???

I was on the road and heard a grinding noise around the starter. When I stopped I shut down to cool down. When I turned the key and pressed the run switch the bike started with me hitting the start switch....

Has anyone encountered this problem? Could it be my starter or something electrical?

Yes, I had the same problem a couple of years ago. Water or oil can get in the starter button on the handlebars and cause the circuit to make a connection. Mine did it because I got oil on the switch when I was lubing the throttle cables. I had to open up the control housing several times and flush the switch with electrical contact cleaner before it finally stopped doing it.....I have also seen the same conditon happen when a bike got water inside the housing.
