Default Fuel mixture and sound

I have installed a PCIII and the bike runs great. It seems slightly quieter. (to me anyway)
Does a richer fuel mixture tone down the exhaust?

Yes, the more rich the more suttle, quietthe sound, leaner is a crispier and has a louder crack to each exhaust pulse.
