I tryed to program the ecm with a new map and it gets 25% done and it says unable to install bootleoder and stops. Dose anyone know what this is? Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Hello,

Isthe computer connected to the SERT adapter via a Serial port or are you using a USB to Serial adapter?

 

As Bertk says, the majority of problems I've seen have been with Serial to USB adaptors. Use the Belkin module from Office Depot (I think it's officedepot that carries it, either that or Office Max, I get them confused all the time.)

And make sure there is nothing else running on your computer when you go to do this SERT stuff. Check your com ports and make sure your settings match the recommended settings from the SERT. Also check your Baud rate.

The older SERT is NOT COMPATIBLE with VISTA. Some folks have used it with good results, some report disaster when trying to do work with Vista and the older SERT.

Also make sure the connector is seated properly, and that your battery on the motorcycle is fully charged. I leave it on the Battery Tender when I do mine, and I also pull the fuse for the lights.

Thanks guys i amuseing a usb port and i am useing vista, but the data recorder works fine, you think its vista or usb or both?

It'll be hard to tell. I have had some guys tell me they use Vista with the older RT and just download the correct driver (Vista Driver) for the belkin serial to usb adaptor. You could always try it and see how it goes, I guess.

Are you using a Belkin Adapter? Belkin adaptors have the best successconnecting with the SERT.

 

Is this the new Pro Tuner, ?

 

Its not the newest one out witch is speed tuner i think. I bought it about 3 mounth ago, its a o8 modle and i have the v477 soft ware.
I will try the belin adapter. If no go i will break out the old trusty windows xp. Ill let ya know.

If you use XP or Win2000 and the Belkin cable you won't have any issues. Vista sucks! If you play the Vista disk backwards it will tell you Paul McCartney is dead.
