Default throttle position w/PCIII/USB

Does engine need to be running while setting throttle position?

according to powercommander user guide it say to due this:

1.To reset the throttle position click on “Power
Commander Tools” and then select “Set Throttle Position.
To reset both the closed and open throttle
positions, first make sure that the bike is
communicating to the computer, then click on
“Reset”. Twist the throttle wide open and
release. Now click OK.

2.To reset only the closed OR open positions
click on the arrows next to the respective
boxes and then click OK.

Does not say bike is to be running.

When I do the above number 1. after clicking ok I get this warning: the difference between open and closed is below the recomended minimum limit. are you sure you want to use these values

Where am I going wroung here?

You did the reset and the values on both idle and full throttle is same. You will have to set your full throttle position. You can leave the bike off but you need the power from the battery adapter that comes with PC3. Once you open your throttle up you will see the right values go up and you will see the bar near the values go up as well. Good luck

after opening set throttle position I see this:

closed = 1544
current = 1540 to 1560
open = 27080

when i twist throttle open I see no change..

what do you mean when you say You will have to set your full throttle position. You can leave the bike off but you need the power from the battery adapter that comes with PC3. Once you open your throttle up you will see the right values go up and you will see the bar near the values go up as well. Good luck

I don't know which PC version you are using, but these are the steps to reset throttle position on the PC IIIUSB and PCIIIr.

1. Connect your computer to PC unit.
2. Turn on ignition or use the 9volt adapter to power up the PC unit.
3. Open Dynajet program and make sure your link is established.
4. Go to the Utilities or Tools section and click on Throttle reset. ( If your link is established, you should see the throttle position move when you work the throttle on the main screen.)
5.This should open a dialouge box with open and closed values showing. Work the throttle a few times to limber it up and then hold throttle in full open position and click the button for the upper value.
6. Now release the throttle and click the button for the lower value (closed).
7. Click on OK, and your done.
The values on the throttle set box will not be 0-100. They will be higher numbers reflecting the electrical values of resistance. On the main screen you should now see your throttle at 0% with no throttle and 100% at wide open throttle.

The bike switch has to be the on position as well as the 9 volt battery connection to the PC USB 3. Make sure you turn off the accelerator pump and the cylinder trim is set to "0".

There is a current PC USB 3 update. Download that first from Power Commander. It will allow you to turn off the accelerator pump program.

Once the switch is in the on position, turn and hold the throttle to full open and enter this in the PC USB 3. Then with the thtottle closed set it once again. Turn the bike switch off and you are good.

Hope this helps.

Steve

What would cause the need to reset the closed and open throttle positions once they are initially set? What indications would you get when there is a need to reset them? I've got a PCIII USB and am just wondering....
