Default Race Tuner Error

I bought the Screamin' Eagle EFI Race tuner to help me with the fuel ratio because I changed air cleaner and exhaust.

I got it all hooked up, it was able to acquire the ECM info, went to program the ECM, and to stops at 25% each time saying;

"Unable toInstall bootloader, Quitting"

Two areas of concern, is the computer at this time corrupted because the program stopped, and what do I do to get beyond this point?

Thanks in advance.

You're probably okay. Will your bike crank & run in it's current state? If so you've done no harm.
You might want to try:
A, Belkin USB to serial converter
B, computer with XP OS

Currently I am running;

Tuner software version 4.7.7
Loading file: 141NP101-B0.MT6
Using a Serial to USB connector from Radio Shack (my laptop does not have a serial port)
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2

The odd thing is it was able to get the VIN info, but it would not upload the file.

It is most likely the radio shack adapter...get the belkin one. Several people have had the same issue. Can you start the bike?

Shut your computer down and then restart it. I've had it happen a couple time and this has worked!

Bike starts/runs.

Now when I try and shut down the program it tells me

The aplication is currently in ECM Recovery Mode
The aplication has data stored that is required to finish the ECM recovery. Closing the aplicationwill cause this data to be lost, and will require the ECM to be recovered by your dealer using Digital Technition. Do you want to proceed?

I get the option to
"return to programing" or "Exit tuning mode"

This was after I unplugged everything and was closing down the program. *sigh* what gives?

I also have a 25 pin (lpt1) to 9 pin adapter at work.

Would this work for me better?

Understand...the worst case scenario is that you have to have your ECM reflashed at the dealer with the digital tech. That's all. Me? If the bike runs ok and you are disconnected I would shut down the program, get the belkin adapter and try again. Or just leave the computer up and running until you get the adapter. But either way I would leave it up until you ride the bike around the block to make sure it's ok.

Not sure. I would get the Belkin. I know it's a PIA but you need to rule that out as the problem. Hit that link I postedand you will see what the belkin one looks like. There are 2 belkin adapters out there the one that looks best is part number:
F5U409V1
