Default PC III problems at altitude

I just got off the phone with two dyno guys here in the rocky mtn region. They both are PC tuning centers. Both told me the same thing that they would not put a piggyback (ie PCIII) on a Harley here in Colorado. They both said that you can set the custom map right on and then with the constant baro. pressure changes, and altitude differences that the bike will run different. Anyone have issues with this. The one said he sat several up and sea level, and lower elavations and never had issues. But when he moved his shop to Colorado he had several go out with good dyno readings, and then the weather would change and the customers were not happy. They both recommended the SERT, or other "direct" link software to reprogram the ECM. They both said they would go ahead and dyno the bike with the PCIII but just wanted me to know about the issues. So now I am thinking about dumping the PCIII and going SERT, or the one said he had software that would allow him to modify the stock ecm and program it for my setup. Needing a little help here.

I heard the same exact thing. (I bet we talked to the same person)

I too am looking for answers and want to know if I wasted $275 on a PCIII.

Get a Thundermax and let it tune itself after the initial base map install. Works great for me. Then you get to play around with it too, if you like doing that sort of thing.

Well, since the PCIII adds or subtracts set amounts of fuel AND the sensors on the ECM still make minor adjustments for altitude, it doesn't make sense to me UNLESS it is something to do with disconnecting the sensors (O2 ) on the 07s and 08s. Does the ecm on the 96 inch motors still have all the sensors the 88s do other than the O2 sensors or do they eliminate the need for some that were present on earlier, open loop models?

Also, under drastic altitude changes, you could temporarily add fuel (or subtract) in areas via the buttons.

Sounds fishy to me.
Call Dynojet and ask them about it.

I live at 4500' and regularly ride at 6-9000'. Sometimes higher. I can tell the difference at the higher altitudes but it is not significantly bothersome.
PC111 on last bike and now an 07 Ultra.

What shop had software that would allow him to change the stock ecm?

Yep, we talked to the same guy.

He said I can pay $200 and some dollars for the Direct Link and then $225 for the Dyno tune. I haven't heard much about Direct Link so I told him I would think about it first.
