Default PC III 08 Sportster problem

Hey All,

I have an 08 XL 883 Sportster and just got my Power Commander III. Couple of things going on.

I hooked it up and installed the O2 eliminators, started the bike with no troubles , but one problem. The light that comes on when you turn the start button on, on the speedometer, looks like a motor and is yellow. This is the light that stays lit for a minute until the bike is ready to start. Well now since the PC III install it stays on when the bike is running.

I only ran the bike for about 10 seconds and cut it off, does anyone know why it is doing that?

The other problem is probably simple. The PC III will not fit into the frame like it shows, no way no how. I haven't tried to install the seat yet so I wanted to check and see if anyone had pointers on that.

Thanks

When you started the bike was the 9v battery disconnected? Did you set the throttle position?

Hi Fastbagger,

Yes the 9v was disconnected, I had it in the tray in the bike. I did not set the throttle position, I did not see that in the instructions, how do you do that?

Thanks for ANY help.

On the PC software, click on "powercommander tools", then on "set throttl position". It is all self explanatory.

Fast bagger,

Throttle position is set now, but same problem. I have emailed power commander people so I will see what they say, I am frustrated as hell at this point.

I had same concern on my softtail. Do a search and find procedure for clearing codes, clear codes, and recheck. Will most likely take care of you check engine light staying on.

Blacktrain,

I will give that a shot. I have a couple of concerns. The first is that it is doing some kind of damage to my bike, the second is that it is messing up the stock computer in some way?

Ok,

Mike at Dynojet emailed me, wasn't much help in figuring anything out, but a super nice guy and he tried. He sent me some maps, etc. I came home today and reprogrammed the PCIII and set the throttle position, etc. Checked the code and got this on the speedo

P0118 ET Sensor Voltage Open/High EFI

So I cleared it, started the bike again and kapow, it popped right back up with the same code. So I unhooked the PCIII and cleared the code and started it, never came back.

In short I have no idea what would cause that code above, but I know I have a helluva lot of money in a new bike and I don't want to mess it up. So I will be selling the brand new PCIII with a total of about 20 seconds hooked up to the harley. Along with it I have a brand new SE stage 1 filter kit.

All for 2007/2008 sportsters, 883.

So what does that code mean?

Return the PC and get a new one, appears it is bad.
