Power commander install on a used machine
I have recieved different answers on this question so I hope all of these are one way or the other:
I bought a used 2000 RK. The guy said it was "remapped" at the HD shop. But,,, I'm not 100% sure. After a few mods this winter, I bought a PCII (not a PCIII because the price of the PCII couldn't be beat). Ifthe RKwas "remapped", does that change the download for the PC compared to ifthe RKwas stock and never molested? Thank you.

RE: Power commander install on a used machine
My tuner insisted on my taking the bike to the dealer first and having the Stage II remap removed before dyno tuning. This download will only cause issues for the PCIII, in their experience. The dealer agreed that they do it all the time on bikes before tuning. It cost $40 at the dealer. The bike runs better than new after PCIII and dyno tuning.

RE: Power commander install on a used machine
I had a PC II on my 2000 R/K. My ECM was remapped with stage I and I used maps built for stage I ECMs. I used canned map M802-007a. Stage I enrichens the fuel for installation of free flowing air breather and mufflers. It also raises the rpm red line from 5700 rpm to 6200 rpm. If you have a tachometer, ride the bike in a lower gear and see if it will rev to 6200 rpm before the rev limiter kicks in. If so you have a remapped ecm.
