Chuck:

Those are good temps. Wait till the XIED comes out. It only gets better.

I put on my XIEDs last night and WOW my 110 SERK likes the extra gas - Also seems to be more growl from the exhaust when getting on it and the butt dyno says more power overall. It seemed to get a little hot coming home but that may have been the 2-3 mile 100MPH run on empty highway and the soft lowers. One issue was the XIEDs seem longer and I guess I did not pull the zip tie hard enough, but one of the connectors hit part of the front exhaust and where the two tabs and little nib come together melted together. Undoing that connector may be a challenge... however no codes or weirdness and the wires all seem to be intact. Just wondering if I will be OK...any thoughts... I have a big several hundred mile ride tomorrow...... I guess I will keep the old regular IEDs with me. Oh I forgot my thermometer today, but will bring it with me on the trip and report those temps and milage.

Hi Mike,

Sounds like your Butt Dyno got a real work out

I would talk to Steve about the Melted XIED. Obviously a short would not be good.I don't know the effect all that heat from the exhaust would have on the electrical components being that close.

Did your Butt Dyno feel like they continued to work good all the way home?

I'm leaving on my annual 16 daybike trip on May 10th. Do you think the XIEDs will be available and in my hot little hands by then? I'm thinking these will be the final piece of the puzzle to my '08 BB with the 255.

Based on the last information I had received, I would say your chances of having them are pretty good.

It seemed fine the rest of the way home. I guess I could try and pull the connectors apart and test for continuity for both wires and do the battery test if I remember how that went. Glad you thought the butt dyno was funny

Mike, if you believe the XIED worked all the way back with no problem, then if it were me I would leave it alone. Of course secure it to the frame so it's away from the exhaust, but don't mess with it. It might break in the process of pulling it apart. Can you take a picture of what it looks like.
