Rider57:

That can't be too good.

Did you see the article in the April addition of American Iron Magazine? They install an S&S Quick set up Air Kit and SE Slip Ons, then show Dyno Results. With just the air kit they gained 10 HP. The slip ons really made no difference.

Now the amazing part of the article said that on 07 Bikes you don't need to tune the Bike. No downloads or aftermarket fuel mngt ststems required. They said the ECU on the 07 Bike adjusted itself after just a short run. I'd love to have what they were smoking.

WHAT IS THE AFR GOING TO BE IF THE O2 SENSERS WILL ADJUST TO 14.7 AFR?

The 02 sensors will read the same. The IED's reduce the signal so the ECM rich'ns it up to what it thinks is 14.7 when infact it's making it 14.1.
It doesn't affect the 02 sensors at all.

Think of it as a filter on your speedometer. (poor example but...) Your cars doing 50, your speedo says 45...... you put more gas in it to get to 50...Speedo says 50 and your cars doing 55.....

Just transfer this example to the amount of air to gas mix. That's all the IED's do. Tell the brain that it's running a little lean.

I installed my slip ons and IEDs yesterday and rode probably 30 miles or so. I'm really happy so far. I not completely satisfied with the rear hookup, as the damn connector is under the oil tank. I couldn't find my temp gun, but I can say in the beginning of the ride, the motor felt hot.....as hot or hotter than before. When I got back to the garage and pulled it in, there was honestly a lot less heat than before.....enough to be a very noticable difference. I'd say it took a good 15 minutes or so for the ecm to adjust. At first it felt pretty lean on a couple throttle cracks. After that throttle response was really good, couldn't tell any difference in full throttle power, but I wasn't expecting any. I'm so happy with the pipes I could care less at this point. Too much speed in resisdential KC will kill a guy.

Another thing, in response the the article about the S&S AC and slip ons, I posted a question about that in another forum. After doing some more research, apparantly the harley ecm has no ability to adjust, even with the map sensor. They did make 10hp with the AC, but I really wonder how long that motor would last on the road. I was always sceptical about companies selling tuners to guys without major mods when they don't need them, but maybe it's one of those "better safe than sorry" type deals, especially when you're making payments.

2WheelTom:

When you hook the IED's up the results are immediate. It's not something you have to wait for. The altered voltage the IED sends to the ECU calls for more fuel to be added to achieve what it now thinks is it's old target goal of 14.7, which in fact is now 14.2.

I would double check that rear IED and make sure the connection is properly plugged all the way in, and the IED is not bent to extreme in the middle.

Whew..lots & lots of info..Good stuff. Just ordered my IED's. Bike= 07 FXLR, V&H shortshots, HS slip-ons, K&N air filter, V&H Fuelpak. Currently getting 50 MPG. Let's see what I'll get when I hook up the IED's. Hey, you AZ guys, I'm from Camp Verde---north of you all down there. Finally getting VERY FINE riding weather.

Yep, I've been riding all week too. Of course, in the AM @ 6 AM I'm 'plugged in' to my vest and gloves. Still a bit chilly, but the afternoons are fantastic. It's usually about 10 degrees cooler up here than in the valley..but that really doesn't matter when it gets triple digit out there.
Thor and me are going to hook up in Prescott sometime. Want to hook up with us this summer?
