Purnong, Steves's service is second to none. Let us know how it goes after you take a good ride with the IED's on the bike.

Bingo, I would agree with Gundog. Nightrider hasn't altered the O2 sensor or the way it works. The life expectancy of the O2 unit has not been changed in any way.
The way I see this working is;

1. The o2 puts out a voltage, lets say .5. This is where the ecm likes to see it and adjusts the fuel to maintain this voltage.
2. The newly installed IED now alters this voltage, so the ecm thinks the engine needs more fuel. It increases the mixture which raises the voltage of the o2 to it's max, which may be .798 or whatever.
3. The o2 is now at it's maximum high limit, but the IED is altering the voltage so that the ecm sees what it thinks is the right mixture.
4. The bike runs richer, cooler and better.

This is exactly the same effect as maxing out the clb tables in the SERT program.

o2's are still maxed out. That's the part that raised the question. Can the o2's run maxed out when it was designed to operate in the middle of it's limited range?

I saw that in the shop manual but it makes it look like you have to take everything off to get to the connector. Do you just remove the two bolts and thats it?

Nothing to unscrew. The plastic cover just snaps off. In the pitcure it's between the oil filter and the voltage regulator.

Thanks GunDog. My V&H instructions made it sound that way but when I tried I got no where. The shop manual shows taking everything appart. I see the small tab right in the center that looks like the release. Thanks again. Ill give it a shot when they arrive.

Bingo, I discussed this question with Steve. He said there is nothing to worry about. The Narrow band sensor has the ability to read more than just plus or minus .5 from 14.7. The .5 difference he has engineered into his IED's is by no means pushing the narrow band to its limits. I was under the same impression as you thinking that the IED adds or subtracts .5 mv. Rather it works on a percentage. Give Steve a call sometime he loves to talk to his customers. Best number to reach him is 727-420-0896.

Well gang, I ended up shaving the jugs .015 and the HP is more than enough from the seat of the pants feel.
I am not going to shave the heads as I thought I would.
It still runs cooler and I am happy.

Bingo, I discussed this question with Steve.
Thanks for the info! I will give Steve a call next week and discuss this, as I would be interested in the modification in conjunction with the tuner file I have flashed the bike with. Snow is melting and I am getting everything ready to go!

Thanks again.

I have been in contact with Steve and will send him all test data from 13, 2007 HD models. Hopefully he can use this data to some advantage that will benefit all.
