Think I'm gonna have to order a set of these for my 07 RG. Its got Rinehart Slip ons and I've gota K&N filter to put in. I know I want to reduce the heat and this seems to be the way to go....now if we could just get the stinkin salt off these OHIO roads....I'd go riding!

Just ordered mine so I'll install them when they arrive. It will be stock air intake and Python slipons for now.

In the future, I may go with the SE intake as I want to put back my round covers back on.

Steve's a nice guy and very helpful.

Wow. Took me most of last night to read through the whole thread, and by then I was too tired to ask my questions, so here I go!

I have the SERT. I have been told the only way to adjust the AFR in CLOSED LOOP is to max out the CLB tables, which I have done. This should be the same as putting the IED in, as both methods adjust the voltage to get the AFR down to 14.1 or so, and it keeps the system in closed loop.

My concern is that on another forum (gasp!) a very knowledgeable poster stated that the narrow band o2 used by HD does NOT like to be far away from it's working voltage (.5?) and maxing it out will cause it to fail in 10,000 miles. As I put 90,000 K (= 50,000 + Miles) on my 02 Standard before trading it in on the 08 Road Glide, and as I plan on putting more than that on the RG, that equals about 5 sets of o2 sensors. The only other option seems to be to adjust the AFR table down to 14.1, which takes it out of closed loop.

Is there a learned opinion on this o2 issue, or is this a new can O worms?

Thanks for all the good reading!

I cant find but one thing that would cause the O2 sensors to go bad. Extreme high heat! You may have issues with excessive carbon buildup if you go too low on the AFR.
I would keep it no richer than 13.3:1. Cruise should be around 13.8:1.

This is just my thinking and nothing to back it up, but the O2 sensors are just sending a signal to the ECM and the IEDs are there to alter the signal. The IEDs should have no effect on the O2 sensors. I think your knowledgeable poster on the other Forum is full of you know what.

What other forum?
I did see any mention of the IED on the above post, but you are correct. The IED's wont harm the O2 sensors.

Finally got of my butt and ordered mine. Has anyone installed them on a 06-07 FXST, FXSTD, FXSTB or FXSTC? Just curious how to get to the front connector on the O2 sensor. I have the shop manual and it seems like you have to unbolt things by my V&H pipe instructions made it sound like you just unclip something. I looked and feel dumb because I can not figure it out.

Bingo, I would agree with Gundog. Nightrider hasn't altered the O2 sensor or the way it works. The life expectancy of the O2 unit has not been changed in any way.

cspcrx, I posted this pic earlier on this thread but here it is again.

thewiring from the O2 sensor runs down the right side of the frame and the connector is hidden under the plastic cover in the center of the picture.
