You are kidding right? 6th gear at 1800 rpm's is some serious lugging..

IMHO, those kinds of rpms in 6th gear is abusing the motor so don't be too surprised if problems begin to develop.

Any more updated reports from xied users? Have been some discussion lately on the touring forum on if these are a good thing to be running or not especially with a cat

The CAT will burn excess unburned fuel (creating heat).
I would think if you add more fuel that there will be even more unburnt fuel that gets into the exhaust and could get hotter. - Nature of the beast.

I use the FL-Xied-10 on my 2010 Ultra, but I replaced the head pipe with the V&H Power Duals.

If you have the option (no state inspecton), I would get the CAT out or replace the head pipe.

Since I have the luxury of adjusting the AFR with the Vied, I have tried several AFRs and found that the "sweetspot" is 13.9-14.0 AFR. When I tried a richer setting, it seemed to run too rich (prolly my imagination) as i could smell the exhaust when I was stopped.

I also tried full lean setting and everything in between. So, at 13.9 AFR, the oil temp rarely gets over 230 degrees, and the motor runs strong and smooth with no decel popping...or very little. This is the desired outcome from this product.

Have you tried other settings other than full rich?

Wink

Ya know, it's funny, cause the FL-XIED Inline I just purchased says 13.8:1... I have the 49 state non-cat oem header pipe as well......I can not wait to give it a try... Darn rain....

The reason I dumped my Xieds and went to the much more sophisticated TTS tuning kit is that the Xied did absolutely nothing for my annoying surge. The difference between the stock setup and a simple VTune was night and day on my bike. Your mileage may differ and you could get lucky. If you have drivability issues beside engine heat and can afford the $400, don't even bother with the Xied, IMHO.
